I love the fact that there is a space for us to talk about the worthwhile causes that move us. I would like to add a few that are near and dear to my heart. First, the Shriners Burn Institute. There are 4, but I was treated at the one in Galveston Texas. It is one of the finest burn care facilities for children and it is free. Many people do not realize that over 2 million people are burn every year!!!! The majority is children. Top burn care is a necessity, especially in the growing years. Next is the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta, GA. I am a patient of this facility as well and the man who founded it was a pioneer in the world of burn care. I believe he is one of the reasons that I can walk today. He died last year and he is greatly missed. The Southeastern Firefighters Burn Foundation in Augusta, GA. They provide housing for out of town families who has a loved one being cared for at the burn unit. Last, but not least is the Phoenix Society. The are a burn survivors support organization that provides a web site, school/job re-entry programs and a yearly meeting of burn survivors from all over the world, aptly titled, World Burn Congress. I have had the wondefulf opportunity to share stories of these incredible organizations with Emme and she could tell you how truely inspiring each one is. Jen Hartley

Hey Em,
Thanks for the unending love and concern. Not sure if I told youthe last time we traded emails, but the Doctors said that right now we are not going to have to do another surgery on this area. The graft is taking better than it was during my first post-op visit. Now I can concentrate on healing and getting ready for the trip to Nicaragua. Hasta la vista! Love, Jen
