one quick question, are you eating enough fish oils in your diet? Do you take faxseed oil capsules? Sometimes it helps with dryness to take these on a regular basis, especially during the winter. Also without a question, water intake needs to increase during the winter which few of us know. Let me look into a few brands that work well for sensitive skin and get back to you!

I have extremely sensitive skin. My dermatologist told me to use use Cetaphil skin cleaser twice a day. Cetaphil also makes a great moisturizer. When my scalp gets bad I use Neutrogena T-Gel shampoo. I have also increased my water intake and take flax seed oil which seems to help.

Flaxseed oil and water are wonderful, in addition to that, you need to be very selective in your skin care selections. I represent a skin care company called Hylunia, our products are so pure they are even used in cancer centers. We also specialize in skin conditions such as sensitive skin, rosacea, psoriasis and ezcema. You need to read ingredient labels and make sure your products contain no fragrance (highly irritating and the #1 cause for contact dermatitis) dyes, synthetic and harsh chemical ingredients,preservatives... Hylunia is paraben free, fragrance free, dye free, lanolin free, etc....Once you switch you will notice a huge difference immediately! Good luck to you:)

Thsnk you for the info! What is your price range? Right now funds are extremely low, so I'm trying to find something that works on a budget...for now anyway.
I just recently started using a lotion: St. Ives Mineral Therapy, and it's starting to help already.
I may have to check into that T-gel shampoo, though. That's still a problem area!

I have a friend who has used the T_gel shampoo and says it works. good luck. Eucerine is also line of creams that help the most sensitive skin types. I use it (it comes in a big tub and I am not sponsored by them to say this).
Really is thick but does the job!

Thanks Emme...what I'm using is helping a little, but I know i have to get something better. Is Eucerine a prescription or over the counter?

Hi Writergirl, the price point for Hylunia ranges from $20-$80, pretty average as to what you get at a spa or doctors office, our products are sold both places. It is created without any ingredients that could potentially cause irritation or inflammation, the lead cause of disease and cancer. The results with rosacea, or psoriasis or ezcema are immediate.

You can buy it over the counter...cheap too!
I just used Eucerine this weekend. My girlfriend has the original that goes on thick and needs to be rubbed in.
When I woke up this morning, I saw the dry spot on my cheek look like it was healing. NOTHING was working and I didn't want to use something stronger.. I was using my essential oil blends (mostly lavender) but I used them together and found great results!

I just started using a new (for me) body lotion and so far so good. It's called Glycosemed and comes in a green bottle from the drug store. I paid $11.99 for it here it's probably a bit cheaper there. What I like about it so far is that it isn't super thick. I find the super thick lotions to spread well and end up being used too quickly for my budge. It has a bit of scent but so far I'm tolerating it. I don't feel gooey afterward and my skin doesn't tighten or feel itchy. I had a small patch of eczema on the back of my calf that seems to be minimizing.
As for scalp issues I've had some success with a product called Denorex (the one without the built in conditioner). During bad times I'll use it ever day and once things clear up I only need to use it once or twice a week. It cost about $8 for a large bottle but lasts a really long time.

I'm back again. As you've guessed I like trying out new things. The latest is Jason's 98% aloe. It looks like a gel and totally absorbs with no residue feeling. I've tried it on some "hot spots" and have found it works well. On the label it mentions using it on the face so I've tried that a few times too. So far so good. The down side is that you have to find it in a Health food store and it's a bit pricey for a small bottle. But a little does go a long way.
