Hello again, this is Emme, and today, we’re going to go over how to fill out your profile.

This information will help tell the other members of our community about your common interests. Keep in mind that all of these steps are optional, but the more you fill out, the more common ground you’ll find.

• The first step is to choose your photo. Click on “Choose File.” This will prompt you to upload the file from your computer. Sort through the appropriate folders to find the location of your file, select your file, and click “Choose” or “OK.”

It can be a photo of you, or just something that you like—a rainbow, a butterfly—whatever you want people to see when they view your profile. The site will accept most formats that you would take with a digital camera, and allows you to upload fairly large photos.

• When you’re all set with your information, click the “Save Changes” button.

• This will take you to your Account Homepage, where you can see a preview of what you’ve just entered. In the left hand navigation, you’ll find links to update all of the information on the site, including your Profile, as well as your Friends and Blog, which we’ll cover in another tutorial.

• To change your account information or password, click on “Update My Account Info” underneath “Profile.”

• To update the information the Profile information that you just entered, click “Update My Profile.”

• And to add some of your Interests, click on “Update My Interests.”

Here you can enter all of your favorite activities like swimming, going to the movies, or Spending Time with your Children—your interests, like Sports or Hollywood Gossip. Each item should be separated by a comma to let the site know where one activity ends, and the other begins. Go through each of the categories below, and fill out as much or as little as you want. Remember, you don’t have to fill out anything, but the more you share, the more you’ll find in common with the rest of the community.

When you’re finished, click “Save Changes.”

• This takes you back to your Account Homepage, where you’ll see the updated preview of your profile. You might notice that all of your activities and interests are links. If you click on these links, it will show you all of the other people that share this interest.

Note that the more specific you are, the more interesting your profile will be, however, it will be more difficult to find you when browsing through the activities. For instance, writing, “Swimming in my neighbor’s pool” tells more descriptively about your life, however, it will not connect you to as many people as “Swimming” would.
